Professional Development

At Great Alaskan Consulting, our commitment to excellence extends to the customization of professional development trainings to precisely address the unique needs of school districts. We understand that each district has distinct challenges, goals, and priorities. To ensure the utmost relevance and impact, our expert trainers engage in a collaborative process with district stakeholders.

Paraprofessional and Support Staff Trainings

Our paraprofessional trainings are designed to equip support staff with the knowledge, skills, and understanding needed to effectively assist students with disabilities in educational settings. The training covers a range of topics to ensure that paraprofessionals can provide valuable support to special education teachers and contribute to the overall success of students with diverse needs.

Pre and Post Monitoring Compliance

Assist districts in understanding and adhering to federal and state regulations related to special education. Review programs prior to being monitored by the state and make suggestions on ways to improve paperwork and provide training. Offer services after monitoring, take the compliance report from the state and provide training in areas needed and develop a plan of action to be implemented and satisfy the states requirements.

Special Education Paperwork and Training

We support schools, educators, and administrators in navigating the complex paperwork and documentation requirements associated with special education. Some of this paperwork includes IEP’s, 504 plans, assessments and evaluations, compliance documentation, progress monitoring, behavior intervention plans, professional development, policy and procedure development, transition plans, data management, pre and post compliance monitoring and more.

Data Collection and Monitoring

We provide trainings in collecting and maintaining data on student progress, behavior, and participation. This information is crucial for evaluating the effectiveness of interventions and making informed decisions about ongoing support. We also help to foster those collaboration relationships with all staff members who are a part of the students programming.

Secondary Transition Program and Teacher Trainings

Secondary transition training is designed to prepare individuals with disabilities, or barriers to employment, for life beyond high school, focusing on developing the skills and knowledge needed for a successful transition into adulthood. This type of training is typically provided to students in their later years of secondary education (high school) and addresses various aspects of independent living, employment, education, healthy lifestyles, and community participation.
